Iâve seen this design before, but I never knew it was for espresso. It apparently designed to handle a significant amount of pressure and is a lot heavier than it looks, probably because it has some steel in the base to make it work with an induction burner. Appears to be made of quality materials for brewing coffee under pressure, the aluminum does gets stained after a few uses, but thatâs to be expected I suppose. It was recommended to run a couple of cycle with just water to break it in before using it for espresso and giving it a through cleaning. Makes a good pot of espresso that didnât disappoint, I used preheated water (filtered) for each pot which speeds up the process a bit from a video I found online on how to use a moka pot. I know thereâs some controversy on using preheated water, but it works for me. Reasonable price ($23.99) for an espresso maker like this, well worth it compared to many other moka pits out there.

It heats up quickly and works perfectly on my induction cooktop, which is a big plus.

the handle gets hot
be careful with what type of flame is used, the handle juts out enough it will absorb the offput heat. even on a regular sized burner on medium high heat, the handle heated way too hot and way too fast. given, this is my first venture into mokka pot methods, i doubt the overheating is intended. the steel is not the highest quality, but it wasn’t hard to clean. there is no indicator of when the coffee is done brewing, it just sorta sputters for a while towards the end, and eventually i took it off the heat at my own discretion. i actually find other methods of brewing coffee easier and more satisfying, though the taste of the coffee wasn’t half bad, the method of getting there was slightly distasteful.

Works well, makes great tasting coffee
This has been my sonâs new go to for making coffee. Iâve tried it, but I tend to be of a quicker is better mindset in the mornings, but my son enjoys the entire process. The coffee is strong and I havenât had any issues with burnt taste or bitterness.

I’m always in the market for another coffee toy, so I was very happy to be offered this espresso pot to try out. Being from a big Italian family that still relies on these for the usual after dinner perk, I’ve used them my whole life and have seen quality from all parts of the spectrum. On materials, I’d put this in the middle. The aluminum is a little thin for my tastes, the results of which you see in the filter pressing and edging in the pictures. it’s not bad; the seal is fine; the filters themselves are a good gauge for a good perk. There are just a few artifacts from high volume pressing. It still does the job and properly. You should be looking for overall value and functionality rather than the top of the heap quality or a lifetime of service if you choose this one, and then you shouldn’t be disappointed. I’m not disappointed. It’s a pretty quick boil with good results and as you can also see, it looks great getting there on my stove. The exterior finish is very nice. If you’re looking for something with a designer edge, this should suit you just fine.
