It does what I bought it to do
I figured with the negative reviews there’d be lots of refurbs. Sure enough there are. I don’t see the problems talked about in these reviews. This replaces a similar Proctor-Silex machine. Unlike some similar machines the Hamilton Beach does not have a means to use Keurig style pods, it’s loose ground coffee only. I don’t see any evidence of water leakage or coffee grounds spillage while in use so I don’t know what those reviews are talking about. The coffee when freshly made might be a little hotter than the Proctor Silex unit and as hot as I’d want in an insulated mug. Otherwise it would be too hot to drink. I’d buy it again.

    Perfect For Individual Coffee Making
My wife and I have very different tastes when it comes to coffee and this handy little machine is perfect for our needs. It’s got a slim profile and takes up minimal space on our kitchen countertop while having the capacity to brew a ‘large’ 16-oz single serving. It’s simple to operate and shuts itself off after it’s done with a simple “Brew” button to activate it. The double metal mesh filtration does an excellent job of keeping the grounds in place and makes cleanup a breeze. They only require a quick rinse under the faucet and a wipe-down of the brewing chamber with a paper towel to keep things running smoothly. The scoop capacity allows us to customize the amount of grounds used in each ‘cup’ brewed, which is important as she’s a ‘strong and black’ drinker while I prefer mine to be less powerful and mix-and-match creamers for different flavors depending on my mood. It works quickly, taking only a couple of minutes to brew and dispense the cup, and the temperature is hot but not scalding. The two-minute cool-down in between brewing cups means we can enjoy our own preferred drinks together on the weekends while still making that quick cup on demand in the mornings before the workday without having to fight over who goes first.

Basically the worst coffee maker that looks nearly identical to the best coffee maker (read review)
This has to be the worst case of bait and switch ever. I love the idea of “The Scoop”. The convenience of a Keurig, but with no post consumer waste and way better coffee. The first generation “The Scoop” which was all chrome looking from what I understand was great, but lacked a removable water tank and you had to refill it with every cup. The second generation was FANTASTIC. Removable tank. Selectable brew size. “Bold” mode. This third generation looks close enough to the second generation that you’d be tempted to think it was the same item. FALSE. I bought one for my mom since I loved my own 2nd gen so much. The 3rd gen is about on par with one of those crappy en-suite coffee makers you find in a cheap hotel. The 3rd gen brews a large by default. If you want a smaller cup, I KID YOU NOT the recommendations per the instructions is to unplug the coffee maker?!?!?! Cheap cheap cheap. Such a bummer they discontinued the 2nd generation. This new one sucks and should be avoided.

    PERFECT SINGLE CUP COFFEE MAKER
Makes great cup of Coffee in a hurry. The container for the coffee grounds has mesh on sides and bottom so that it washes out quickly. This Coffee Maker is smaller than the company’s other model taking up less space on the counter.Highly recommended

Coffee grounds up into water spout. Hard to clean.
Using this coffee maker has been a nightmare. The coffee grounds get up into where the water comes out and I have to get a paper towel and clean it after use or rinse it under the faucet. I’ve tried putting some coffee filter on top of the grounds before brewing, but this dilutes the coffee. I bought some of those Keurig replacement cups to fill and use to hopefully prevent that, but amazingly, it was worse!!!

Life Saving coffee maker for 1 cup brews
Perfect for 1 cup and way better taste than those nasty Kpod things that leech plastic into your drink. Slow drip coffee like this tastes way better. Even more so if you grind your own beans. buy this, throw away your kpod maker, and never look back. mic drop bro

Do you want coffee grounds all over your kitchen? If so, this is the machine for you!
Will this make a decent cup of coffee? -Yes.Will there be grounds absolutely everywhere (including your newly brewed cup of coffee)? -It’s a surprise every time!If you are reading the review and thinking of purchasing – don’t.The first cup of coffee I made, I thought I had overfilled the grounds when they started pouring out of the machine. Now, after maybe 15 cups of coffee, I have no idea if there even is a “correct” amount of grounds to use without potential disaster. The price of this coffeemaker and the sustainability of not using disposable cups is what drew me to it. Now I wish I had spent $20 more dollars and saved myself hours and all the headache of cleaning an explosion of coffee grounds every time I want a simple cup of coffee. The 2-3 minute brew time seems great – until the clean-up turns it into a 15-20 minute process. Now if you’re like me and you missed the return cut-off for this, here are a few tips I’ve found to make it not so terrible:1. DO NOT fill the grounds more than halfway (this absolutely does not guarantee it won’t leak, just limits the risk)2. Make sure both filters are completely rinsed of coffee grounds from your last brew before starting a new cup3. Double check that the filter lid is completely closed.4. Brew into a spare cup – that way if the grounds do leak out, you don’t need to clean the cup you want to use5. If there are grounds in your coffee, pour the coffee through the secondary filter into another cup6. To get the grounds out of the coffee machine: remove both filters, have an empty cup sitting on the cup rest, pour fresh water in until all the grounds are flushed out

Hands down the worst coffee machine I’ve ever encountered!! Hamilton Beach what were you thinking! I owned your stainless steel machine for 10 years (THE BEST COFFEE EVER) until it died last week. So I bought this one..thinking its the same machine only in white.I WAS WRONG! Not only did it spit and blow hot water everywhere(Which took 3 to 5 minutes)..NONE OF IT WAS IN THE CUP!! Fustration at 4 am is not my idea of a great way to start the day!!!Don’t get me started on your placement of start brew buttons!!Throw this model out and stick to the tried and true stainless steel model. It works..This one BITES THE BIG ONE!!

Bought this to replace a much fancier all in one name brand that bit the dust by extravagantly breaking apart while spinning its pod.Let’s be honest – this is not the fanciest coffee maker on the market. It takes a couple of minutes to brew, sure – but honestly, for the price and the freedom of having a simple mesh basket to use your own grinds, the value for money is absolutely there. Note that it doesn’t force water through like a pod system, but is more like a miniaturized coffee maker – not quite as slow as a drip, but it’s the same type of brewing, just into a smaller basket.Initially I felt disappointed by the simplicity of this coffee maker, but once I got over myself and realized all I was really missing was marketing and sunk costs from the usual fancy pod systems, I’ve grown to love this little thing. It makes a good cup of coffee. I find I get the best results with somewhere finer than a medium grind – I’d say a fine(ish) grind level.Really the only (small) sticking point I have is that it has no water reservoir, so you have to fill every time you use it. I can’t fault it for that either though, as this means it takes up much less counter space. If you can’t justify making a pot a day, this should be all you need. Not to mention that you really get bang for your buck with using your own coffee without having to mess with 3rd party pod adapters or anything like that. I had a 950g tin of coffee last 2.5months using this once daily. This would honestly make a great gift for a student coffee drinker living in a dorm.

Coffee seems to be ok but I like to set it to come on in the morning rather than get up to make it
