Nearly perfect espresso machine, well worth the money
As a longtime customer of De Longhi, I have seen tremendous improvement in their machines. I was very happy with my last purchase a couple of years ago but unfortunately my little grandson broke the dial while playing with it, so I bought this new model for a lot more money (don’t worry, there are no dials to break). This is by far the best machine for its price on the market, and in fact it is very near to perfection. Read the (admittedly somewhat complicated) instructions carefully and especially don’t neglect to remove the red plastic cord on the bottom of the water reservoir. Once you have set it up and primed it properly it is very easy to use, just plug it in and press the button to start and the button for the number of cups you want (I prefer2, with that filter already installed) and it works automatically. Make sure the espresso is filled and tamped properly–invest in a separate tool for punching little holes in the espresso (really helps) and the heavy metal tamper, since the plastic oneis not very efficient. If done properly the result is a perfect shot every time, with at least 1/2 inch ofcrema and no, or nearly no, residue in the cup. I prefer using the Capuccino size glasses rather than small cups, and also because you can add another shot or two to the glass if desired (see instructions). However, the crema lasts longer in an espresso cup, if that is important for you. Some have complained about water leaking but perhaps they did not remove the red cord from the bottom of the water reservoir; anyway, I have found no water leaking after constant use for over two weaks. Also, the pressure dial has no numbers on it because you don’t need them, it works automatically, perfectly every time and there is no need to do anything. Just enjoy this lovely gem!

    Great purchase
We have had the best experience with this product! We had learned how to use a manual espresso machine and decided we were ready to upgrade to something easier to use that required fewer steps. This price point was exactly what we wanted to spend without looking like it would be very amateurish or low quality. The pieces are all well made and easy to use. The scoop is a little awkward, but you do get used to it. A big difference between this and the manual we were using is that the manual required a lot of pressure to be built up and therefore very firm tamping. This machine works best, in our experience, if you use the scoop to measure out about 10 grams of espresso, ground finely, which is approximately one full scoop. Then you can tamp with the flat end of the scoop, but just enough to get the grounds firmed up. Otherwise your shot will be under extracted because the water won’t be able to pass through the puck. Now, we did have an issue with this machine right off the bat. The pressure gauge needle wasn’t moving at all when we pulled a shot, even though pressure was obviously building up well enough to have registered. We contacted DeLonghi, whose reps gave us excellent customer service. After describing the problem, they asked that we send a video of the machine working. After seeing that they replaced the machine without any further questions and asked that we send back the defective model for repair. It was a very simple process and the new model works perfectly. I 100% recommend this machine if you’d like to make espresso at home without spending $600 to do so.

    Great value for price
We had a $2,000 machine that died after 5 years. It would have cost anywhere between $200-$1000 to fix so we decided to just get a new machine. So we bought this one. It’s very light, mostly made of plastic…but you know what? The espresso is definitely better than our fancy machine and the steamer is better at making foam, for absolutely certainty. The steamer is difficult to just get your milk hot, and what happens is that it almost immediately starts making foam. That’s great but the milk isn’t getting hot enough at the same time. Overall, comparing side by side, I’d have to say this one makes a better Carmel machetto than the $2,000 fancy machine. If it last 10 months it’ll be the same value as the $2,000 machine.

In love with this Delonghi Espresso Machine
There are probably lots of other higher-end machines out there even under the Delonghi brand. However, this machine for the price is a great buy. Nicely built and well packed. The unit is small but efficient. Looks great on our countertop. The espresso comes out with a high temperature in the machine’s default settings. The appliance does not allow temperature variations, but as expressed, the final temperature is perfectly fine. The foamer works well, as long as cold milk is used and a bit of trial and error is needed to get that perfect foam. Highly recommended for coffee lovers who do not want to spend huge amounts of money on more expensive machines.

I recently purchased the DeLonghi EM450M Linea Classic Espresso Machine, and it has exceeded my expectations. The 15-bar Italian pump delivers rich, flavorful espresso with a beautiful crema, rivaling that of more expensive machines. The Thermoblock technology ensures the machine heats up quickly, allowing me to enjoy my coffee without a long wait. The adjustable steam wand is a fantastic feature, making it easy to froth milk for lattes and cappuccinos. The machine’s compact stainless-steel design not only looks sleek on my countertop but also fits perfectly in my limited kitchen space. One tip for new users: ensure you remove the red/orange seal during setup to prevent any potential leaks. This step is highlighted in the instructions and is crucial for proper operation.Overall, the DeLonghi EM450M offers exceptional value for its price point. It’s user-friendly, efficient, and produces high-quality espresso drinks. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their home coffee experience.

We love our machine. It is very basic but you can’t beat this quality for the price. We switched our Nespresso out for this and haven’t looked back. Cheaper than pods too.

This is a nicely functioning espresso machine for those on a budget. Some of the high end machines can run well over $1000, so this smaller version is a great way to get your foot in the espresso machine door. It functions the same as the more expensive machines, just lacks some of the perks like an integrated grinder or a more advanced frother. The instruction book leaves a lot to be desired, as it doesn’t explain how to troubleshoot well. The first few tries at making a cup are always a bit questionable. Even for someone like me that has used many espresso machines, the first tries are a bit like a lab experiment – How much of the grinds to use for a single or a double sized portion? How densely do I tamp the grinds? How fine should I grind the beans? Am I getting too much pressure? Am I getting too little pressure? The list goes on. After you’ve experimented with what works best with your machine it becomes a lot easier to make that morning latte without any fuss.
