From the Publisher
Rule #1: Learn the rules to break the rules
Welcome to an entire book full of rules to decorate by written by a person who doesn’t care for rules all that much!
You are the artist and your home is your canvas. It’s imperative that you understand the rules of decorating so that when you choose to break one, it’s on purpose and not because you have no idea about the fundamentals of good design.
Break the rules so things can be better, not because you don’t know better.
Rule #27: Add a temporary fix to the mix
When circumstances don’t enable you to do what you want but also don’t allow you to wait for whatever is necessary to move forward, that means it’s time for a temporary fix.
A temporary fix is anything that holds you over so a room serves you and looks better until you can do what you want or need to in the future.
Rule #40: Hate the sofa, hate the space
If you don’t love your sofa and are ready to make changes in the room where your sofa lives, I want to encourage you that if you do nothing else than find a way to get a sofa you love, your entire room will feel better. It’s the single most impactful decision you can make. When you hate your sofa, you’ll hate your space. When you hate your space, you won’t fully use it, and that’s a waste.

I LOVE this book!
I was kind of prepared not to like this book – mainly because I thought the focus would be shabby DIY focus.I was so wrong – I have many decor books, some by famous experts in the field of home decor.THIS is the most practical and beautifully organized decor book I have ever read. Yes read! A good number of my many decor books have never been read by me – but only used as photo inspiration books. I am READING this one!Every page is packed with practical, doable decor advice – I love this book ð

Loving this book! Filled with quick and powerful advice.
I’m loving this book. It’s sitting on my coffee table, and it looks lovely. But more importantly to me, it’s filled with short reads with powerful advice about how to set up my home to work for me. Thank you, Myquillin, for giving us a full-page photo with each rule (one rule, one photo, on each 2-page spread); it helps bring your rules to life plus gives us great design inspiration and examples.

This book helped me figure out design principles for why I did like something/way of arranging a room, and why I didn’t. And I liked that she encouraged ‘shopping’ from your house inventory because it can bring a whole new freshness with a re purposed item, or arrangement.

Great read that gave me the confidence I needed to make design decisions in my house. There are many tips thaaat I have been using a lot. The only downfall is the author’s aversion to colour, being intense sometimes.
Salutaris –
The book is written in a friendly manner that makes interior design approachable. I like colour and the book is designed around using neutrals.
