Home Therapy: Interior Design for Increasing Happiness, Boosting Confidence, and Creating Calm: An Interior Design Book
$35.00 $7.99
Self-help meets interior design in this holistic, gorgeously photographed guide that “thoughtfully and beautifully unpacks the tools and ideas to support mental wellness at home through design and styling” (Justina Blakeney, founder of Jungalow).
“An original approach to domestic bliss.”—Publishers Weekly
Licensed therapist turned interior designer Anita Yokota knows that our surroundings are more than just a reflection of our personal style; how our homes are decorated and arranged can have a monumental impact on our quality of life. During her seventeen years as a practicing marriage and family therapist, she noticed that the state of her clients’ homes often mirrored their emotional issues, which inspired her to develop the Home Therapy method: her signature system for creating wellness from the inside out by setting up your spaces to nurture your mind, body, and spirit.
Instead of basing decorating decisions on trends and fads, Home Therapy’s unique, therapy-informed approach focuses equally on mental health and design and presents the psychology behind making your home intentional. From choosing the right lighting, furniture, and paint color to building boundaries and forming long-term organizational goals, Anita guides you through creating spaces that bring happiness and balance to the sanctuary we call home.
Anita lays out the four “domains” that need to be addressed to improve your living experience: The Individual Domain focuses on introspection to discover what you need in each space; The Organizational Domain helps you declutter and build functional rooms so you can be your most efficient self; The Communal Domain inspires you to form more authentic connections with others through good design layout; and The Renewal Domain centers self-care and rejuvenation to create the right energy for resting and recharging.
Feeling calm and confident when you step out the door starts in your home. The perfect gift for anyone looking to create an intentional, thoughtful space, Home Therapy is an invaluable, beautifully photographed resource to decorating from a deeper perspective so you can have a home that supports your authentic self.

Love It!
This lovely book is full of great design advice and inspiring photos that show simple but impactful ways to beautify your space. What I love about Anita’s work, both in this wonderful book and in her online presence, is that she understands the needs of a busy family. There are so many helpful tips for creating spaces that are functional but also calming and beautiful. She breaks down the why and the how of her design theory in a way that makes it much more accessible for people (like me!) who need some guidance in getting started making small changes in their home. The book itself is gorgeous and worthy of having out on your coffee table. I purchased a few copies of this book to give as Christmas gifts for hard-to-buy-for friends and several people commented that they loved it. If you’re on the fence, I highly recommend buying the book!

Beautiful, inspiring and thoughtfully written
I love that Anita uses her expertise in therapy to help us bring a sense of calm and balance to our homes. I 100% believe that our mental health can truly benefit from having a home that reflects our personality and with systems in place to keep it both organized and functional. The photos are gorgeous and inspiring making it the perfect coffee table book. I also love that she shared her background on coming from an immigrant family as I can relate to her story as a fellow immigrant confronting my limiting beliefs. Many practical design tips are included in this book to help anyone create intentional spaces in their home. I will be keeping this book for myself and gifting one to a friend! Highly recommend !! – Yuni

Achievable, beginner friendly, home and self help
From the very first page this book was full of useful, easy to implement and understandable tools and ideas. She does a wonderful job teaching design while sprinkling self help through her therapist background throughout the book and bringing the two together. Very user friendly with practical and relatable solutions. Highly recommend as a gift to yourself or anyone looking to bring peace and order and inspiration to the home while gaining a better understanding of yourself and how to help those in your home.

Lovely book, wonderful and useful information
This book not only has helpful life advice, for your living space and relationships, it is also a sensory experience. The cover feels wonderful in your hands, no dust jacket needed. The binding is stitched, a solid construction. The colors are inviting and soothing to the eyes. This is a book that you leave out, it will start conversations as well as add to the room. My new go to house warming gift, for the beauty, as well as for the real life wisdom that the author shares to help us create united relationships at home.

Lovely calming book
Someone recommended this book when I was doing some spring cleaning and home re-organizing. I read the description and it got me intrigued so decided to give it a try. When I got it, I would spend about 15 minutes each morning reading it while I had my coffee. I found it set me up for things to consider in my day/week. I do like the images and ideas that are shared in the book in terms of each room/space in your home. It not only gets you to consider some practical organizing ideas but also how we want our spaces at home to feel and to contribute to our and our family’s wellbeing.

This is the perfect coffee table book for my living room. The colour is pleasing and it matches the aesthetic of my loving room. The content is interesting as well.

Of all the organization books I’ve purchased over the years, this one was more digestible that the others. I need this book in a bad way.
Syeda Raisa Rushda –
The content of the book is good and what I had expected. It’s all about intentional design and how your home makes you feel. But it came a little damaged on the corner. I really wish Amazon delivered books in boxes. I don’t see why damage to books is ignored and they send it in flimsy paper bags. Books are valuable and should be handled with care.
