Not Great – But Super Cheap
I know it’s just coffee, not rocket science. Although it looks great, these controls are all sorts of bad, they wasted no man hours re-thinking the setup sequences. Very poorly thought out, in our high tech digital world no less.To set the automatic brew, which in and of itself is an oxymoron, and for which most makers will tend to be rather self explanatory. Not here; Braun makes you earn that cup-o-jo. It’s not a – once and you’re good until the next power outage resets it to default, oh no, you set this each and every night (or day respectively, whatever you’re routine). It’s a very odd sequence of pannel inputs, not unlike the kind used on nuclear missile consoles I’m guessing.I don’t write bad reviews as a sort of twisted form of relaxation; I knew this was a cheap deal when I ordered it. I “rolled the old dice.” I now look forward to its end-of-life (or scheduled obsolescence) so I can drop some coin on my go-to brand. It has one big knob you turn and set everything, including your water’s hardness. Now that is progress. Braun can’t do that?Oh, you’re curious “how does the coffee taste?” … like everyday, ordinary coffee, no frills… this maker will not “wow” you.So, if you’re short on cash, need a coffee maker for guests, or your office, you’re not picky, you don’t touch the stuff, or just like a routine evening’s coordination challenge of setting the auto brew (all but automatic), this baby is for you!!!

Worked Okay Until It Didn’t
Controls not intuitive but worked well until it didn’t. (10 months)Braun customer service was not user friendly and required me sending a video of the non working unit sitting on my counter as well as photos as proof of failure and prove the issue wasn’t operator error. Upon review they may send a replacement in 7 -19 days time.Who’s going to wait that long for coffee?

Could not get the coffee maker to work at first and then …
When we first received this Braun coffee maker, our first impression is it is a good looking coffee maker.What attracted us to this coffee maker was the option to adjust temperature (we like it hot) and the strength (we like it bold).First off, the coffee maker went into cleaning mode and wouldn’t stop after several water refills trying to run it out. The instructions say the cleaning light only comes on when there is scale in the coffee maker and this was the first time we used it as a new coffee maker.We immediately filed for a return (super easy thanks to Amazon’s return policy on this product). Added a video and if you listen to the audio, you may sense my frustration as after a few “clean cycles” I decided to add coffee and it came out really yucky – what a waste!Then the coffee maker decided to work after all. The “auto on” button never lit up – we are wondering if that means our machine was defective?. We were able to select the bold and the hot temperature and finally able to set the clock (that needs to be done as it governs everything else). We were never able to adjust the time to auto shut off (default is 2 hours). The touch pad did not seem to work well.The coffee maker is loud and when we finally got it to work – it made an irritating clicking sound every few minutes.We used the included gold filter and our coffee ended up with a dark grittiness. Using our “go to” Melitta paper filter (Cone #4) made the coffee taste a lot better than with the reusable gold cone filter – no grit and less bitterness. We compost so the filters go into the compost pile versus the garbage.Prior to this coffee maker we had ordered a 14 C programmable Calphalon that we loved (my brother “borrowed it”), but this Braun 14 cup programmable coffee maker seemed to have the same features for less money. We have returned this Braun coffee maker after thoroughly cleaning it and repacking it in the original box (looks like new) and will order another Calphalon. Our overall opinion is the display on this Braun coffee maker doesn’t work properly (pressure sensitive buttons do not respond all the time and instructions are poor) and the coffee doesn’t taste as good as with the Calphalon. In case you too are looking at the variety of bold coffee makers offered on Amazon, we had previously tried the Hamilton Beach bold coffee maker and also didn’t feel like the coffee stayed warm enough and the taste was’t really bold and flavorful. Hope all this helps you decide if this is the right coffee maker for you.

This is a great coffee maker. Both cold and hot brew options, timer, fast brew, built in water filter! I also use it to brew my tea, and it works great!! Well worth the spend!!

Auto-on Requires Reprogramming Every Day
I am returning this coffee maker. It is sleek but the functionality is very poor. The auto brew feature needs to be reprogrammed every day. Requires you scroll through the settings and try not to reset the clock time. Stupid. Even Braun customer service (via chat feature) agreed that having to reprogram auto-on everyday is not great! If you don’t use the auto-on feature you may enjoy this product.

I like the 14-Cup capacity. The #4 cone filter works well in this unit. The carafe pours very well and is ergonomic. The carafe glass is thin making it fragile. The hot element coated with thin Teflon enamel shows wear within weeks if use. I like the water indicator so you can make the amount of coffee cups you wish to brew. I found it easy enough to program and the clock LED is well lit when itâs brewing and visible on stand-by mode. Iâm happy with it after looking at many coffeemaker options. Best feature is how it timely infuses the coffee before it starts the brewing process. Makes excellent bold good tasting coffee. Overall the quantity of 14 cups is its selling feature. The bold brew option makes great coffee as I mentioned. You can hear the coffee maker brewing and gurgling when itâs brewing. The three audible beeps to announce the coffee is ready is faint to the ear. The clean and descaling mode when flashing orange takes approximately 20 minutes with descaling solution. I purchased a gallon of descaling solution from home hardware making it more cost efficient. Using the coffee maker daily the clean me light turns on every 4 months for the descaling process. Big D

Coffee machine worked great, however the carafe itself is crap.This was actually the second machine I’ve purchased, first one the carafe cracked and shattered and I thought it was a fluke but second one had the exact same issue, place the carafe gently on the counter and it shatters (picture attached).Contacted Amazon support and they referred me to the manufacturer, who basically determined it was dropped (it wasn’t) and no support.Reached back out to Amazon support, explained the situation and what the manufacturer said, and Amazon issued a full refund (even though outside the return window).As usual, Amazon has great service. Wish I could say the same for the manufacturer.

I have owned many automatic drip coffee makers over the years, and they all seemed to have some draw backs. My first coffee maker (many decades ago) was a Braun – remember the white one with only one button, the On/Off switch? Since then Iâve had mainly Cuisinart or similar brands. I found them difficult to fill, with timers/clocks that were almost impossible to read. So when I went looking for a new coffee maker I thought I would go back to Braun. And I am so glad I did.This unit looks great, is easy to fill, has a clock that is lighted and easily visible, and it makes great coffee! The pot is perfect too – hinged lid, and pours beautifully. No splashing or dribbling like most glass coffee pots Iâve used.While the settings are a little tricky at first, once the temperature and time are set, itâs easy from there. Power button, brew level (Fast, Regular or Strong) and youâre all set.I would definitely buy another one of these, and Iâm looking forward to many years of great morning coffee with this one.

The machine has many useful features. Such as the auto function. The reusable filter is easy to clean and works as it should.The only issue is the steam that itâs producing and that burns the heating plate. The steam cannot escape and leaves the machine damp and sizzles on the heating plate.
