Description

From one of America’s top meditation teachers comes a revolutionarily simple approach to everyday practice – especially if you don’t think you have the time or the patience.

Imagine you’re sitting on a cushion with your legs crossed, ready to tap into unlimited joy. There’s just one problem: You can’t get comfortable (let alone still), and your head is full of way too many thoughts.

The problem is not with meditation, or you, though – the issue may be with your approach.

When properly understood and practiced, meditation should feel easy, calming, and comfortable. In Bliss More, maverick instructor Light Watkins provides the tools for making it E.A.S.Y. (Embrace, Accept, Surrender, Yield), dispels the biggest myths and misunderstandings, and shares real-world tips and straight talk for hacking into this ancient practice. The result: a happier and healthier you, inside and out. Watkins also shares candid testimonials from people whose lives have been enriched through his method, and extensive resources for transforming a daily chore into an enjoyable activity. Even the biggest skeptic will look forward to sitting for meditation every day.

Whether you’re a novice or experienced practitioner, Bliss More will shed light on the path to a clearer mind, better sleep, and more bliss in everyday life.

Insightful, Kind, Humorous Approach to Meditation
I am a subscriber to Light’s “Daily Dose of Inspiration” and each day it seems the inspirations are written specifically for me. Each one makes a positive impact in my life. It was through on of the Daily Dose of Inspiration that I learned of Bliss More. I pre-ordered the book because I adore the good that Light Watkins is bringing into this world and I wanted to support that effort. I never intended to read the book because I have been a daily meditator for years, I enjoy and prioritize my meditation practice and I know (or thought I knew) the fundamentals. I learned Light was going to do a 21 Day Mediation Challenge with reading assignments in the book. I thought this would be a good way for me to ensure I read the book. I requested to be part of the challenge and was accepted. I had no expectations, but was open to learning something new. Oh boy, to my utter surprise, I have LOVED every day of the 21 day challenge. Light has stripped away all the mysticism about meditation by sharing his own struggles with mediation and using humor to illustrate how chatty our minds can be during meditation. I laughed out loud reading about the random thoughts that pop up during meditation. My brain somethings can be super chatty during meditations and I have never had a technique that works every time for dealing with a chatty mind of random thoughts. The E.A,S.Y. approach that Light teaches in this book is life transforming. It is a useful tool for mediation and for life in general. I have used it outside of mediation and can attest that it works. I am of the age where hot flashes are something I have to deal with. When I feel a hot flash coming on, I just go into E.A.S.Y. mode and, like a miracle drug, hot flash vanishes.Oh, back to mediating, my meditations have improved in the following ways: (1) I used to use a soft alarm to let me know when my mediation had ended. Light treaches us to rely on our own internal clock, no alarms. I no longer use an alarm and happen to check my clock almost at 20 minutes on the dot each time. (2) I have more minutes of my mediation in which my mind is completely settled and quiet. I only become aware after the mediation that it was mostly quiet. (3) the time in meditation seems to go by quickly. I am never thinking about the fact that I am mediating or how much time has gone by. I organically feel the 20 minutes has passed without any other thoughts about time during my mediation. To conclude, Light Watkins is a brilliant mediation teacher and technique he teaches in this book can truly turn anyone and everyone into a daily mediator. I know from experience that mediation increase feelings of wellbeing and peace. Living from this vintage is the best way to change the world.

    Great book
I have read several mediation books and this one is by far the most helpful and explanatory. Light actually explains everything so that you understand what the entire process is and how if you tried before it’s not you but the way you learned or didn’t learn that is keeping you back from meditating with ease. I highly recommend this book whether your a beginner or someone who has struggled with meditation as I had in the past. It’s well worth it especially if you have tried in the past and it didn’t seem to work. Thank you Light!

    Best meditation book I’ve read
I’ve meditated for several years and have read a variety of books by excellent, well-known teachers. All the books were worthwhile, but Bliss More was what I was looking for that I could not find in any of the other books. Specifically, I was very eager to try a mantra-based meditation similar (or exactly like) TM but there is, rather famously, no such book because TM is strictly passed down from teacher to pupil in person. While I don’t have a problem with this business model (and it is, at least in part, a business model), I was not ready to spend $1,000 on TM classes. The reason I was interested in moving from mindfulness-based meditation to mantra-based is because whenever I listen to Dan Harris’s 10% Happier podcasts (which I love), the mindfulness meditators frequently remark on how difficult it is, while the occasional mantra meditators he hosts always comment on how easy it is. I not only wanted easy, but I also believed that it in fact could and should be easy. (Note: There are some wonderful things to be gained from mindfulness meditation, and I incorporate what I’ve learned from it into my life and still use this type of meditation some).Light Watkins’s book spells out exactly what I wanted to know. I’ve been meditating the EASY way (as he calls it) twice a day for six weeks, and it is so helpful. Although I am not a morning person and put sleep as a priority, I get up 30 minutes early to meditate and find it is more beneficial than the extra 30 minutes of sleep. The pause I take in the late afternoon is meaningful, too. I read the book twice to really take it all in. My teenage son is going to take it on as a school project and my 81-year-old mother, after glancing through it, has ordered a copy.My only suggestion is that there were too few questions and answers in the Q&A section. I could suggest several more that I’m sure many people, including myself, would ask. Thank you, Light Watkins!

Love this book and love the audio book version even more. The author has a great natural way of speaking to his audience and makes you laugh along the way. He takes the “shame” out of “not meditating perfectly” like we’re used to reading or hearing about. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get into meditating in the easiest, most natural way!

Rather disappointing and not very effective methods. TM feels a bit like a sect. There are so many better books on meditation and bliss – don’t get this one – look further.

Mudou inteiramente a minha opinião sobre a meditação. Livro muito explicativo, educativo. Fácil de colocar em prática. Merece nota 10!

I bought Bliss More in March 2020 and I’ve read and re-read it. Now, in March 2021 I’ve been meditating twice a day with the method it describes and have realized I’ve undertaken a very interesting journey, and I’m very grateful to Light Watkins for having written it. The method described is simple, direct, and modern, written by a man who has studied with authentic masters and who, as he says, has been teaching for many years, so he knows how to convey concepts so anyone can understand how to meditate.
