It is difficult to tell if these bath flakes really made much of a difference to my menopause symptoms. I used almost a third of the pack for one bath. The initial smell was quite strong but once dissolved, there was very little odour. As they are bath flakes, there were also no bubbles so the water appeared clear.I definitely felt very relaxed after the bath but no more really than I would have with an alternative branded bubble bath. My skin felt soft and I had no issues at all with irritation.At £6.95 this product does work out quite expensive as you are unlikely to get more than 3 to 4 baths out of the packet.

I’ll start this review with a bit of a disclaimer that I am not going through menopause right now. I’ve done some reading about the MTick initiative, which is very interesting and does seem like a great thing to do and put on your product to help clarify what products are intended to aid with this part of our lives.Although the ingredients in these flakes will do wonders for a variety of consumers, it is great that to see a market for menopausal women.Anyway, I love BetterYou as a brand, so I am always eager to experience their diverse range of products. Their magnesium flakes are always high-quality and potent, with a lovely scent dependent on the purpose.These flakes contain clary sage, ylang-ylang, and magnesium, and you can definitely smell the herbal scents when you open the bag. Clary sage isn’t the most pleasant of smells, but I believe it is used to potentially relieve menopausal symptoms and can reduce stress. However, even though it’s not marketed as such, pregnant women should NOT use these due to the clary sage in them.The flakes do get to work quickly once you’re in the bath. You’re meant to use roughly 2 cups per bath and relax for 20 minutes (or more if you want to). The flakes dissolve fully and leave none behind, and in the bath, you can almost feel the beneficial tingling of magnesium. It is a strong scent though, so you may want to ensure you don’t mind the smells of these oils before purchasing.Overall, for the price, BetterYou can seem a bit more expensive than some brands, but there are no baddies in the ingredients, and they always have purposeful blends you can choose from.This is a great product and helped me feel relaxed after a nice long bath, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to my older female friends!

I love the smell of these bath salts! They remind me of a lovely hotel spa – that herby, exotic smell.You get a good sized pouch of magnesium flakes which I have dispensed into an airtight container to make sure they don’t spoil in the moisture of the bathroom. I had done some gardening and was feeling stiff and tight so I decided a hot bath would help prevent me from waking up too sore, and adding these made it feel like my own little spa session. It’s a very relacing smell.The magnesium (and especially from this brand which is well known/trusted) is supportive of both muscle aches, and sleep. As I’m menopausal (but can’t take HRT for medical reasons) I’m happy to try anything which puts me in a good unwound place for when I climb into bed.I found a hot bath with these bath salts to be just what I needed.I’ve used other bath salts before – some didn’t dissolve fully so I could feel grittiness under me in the bath which was irritating, and some have no scent so I ended up adding other products. These were an upgrade on those as they left no annoying grit in the bath, and they smell divine, so I’d say they’re worth the price tag, especially as they’re on offer at the time of review.

I’m not on the menopause yet, but I think I’m coming up to my ten year warning (the peri-menopause) and to be fair, my body plays up anyway thanks to other menstrual health conditions. So anything that keeps me chilled and happy is a bonus, and I do like bath salts! I’ve tried Better You before but not their bath salt – this one has loads of magnesium in it and loads of essential oils and it really smells delicious and quite soothing. Nice sized bag too! It’s easy to add to the bath and you can either do the traditional bath or a footbath depending on what you feel like. It really feels good and my skin felt super soft and nourished when I got out the bath. The smell was beautiful and really long lasting, and I felt like I slept quite well afterwards. Definitely keeping this one for when I’m having a bad day and need a bit of down time. Love it!
